STEP BY STEP FOR TODAY TO PROMOTE OUR KNOW-HOW
Respect for tradition does not mean refusal of modernity, to improve our production techniques, we use state-of-the-art tools.
We develop our high-quality production in oenological facilities where modern stainless steel vats and traditional vertical presses stand side by side.
Long-standing vintages, mastery of vinification without malolactic fermentation and the production of a bleeding rosé with explosive aromas are the symbols and signature of the house.
We cultivate our entire vineyard in a dynamic of continuous improvement of our viticulture techniques.
We have a policy of respect for nature, it is for this reason that we have been committed to sustainable viticulture for more than 30 years.
All our vines are worked with great respect. Today, we are HVE certified . Regarding production, since 2016 we have implemented the HACCP charter , in order to improve our production techniques and above all to obtain traceability of all of our Champagnes which is as precise as possible. This charter is a guarantee of quality, traceability and proof of guarantee , in particular for our international markets.
A FAMILY STORY FROM THE BEGINNING TO NOW
Our house is located in the emblematic champagne vineyard, the Côte des Bar, which stands out for the quality of its Pinots Noirs and the rarity of its Pinots Blancs.
La Côte des Bar is located in the southern part of the Appellation d'Origine area between Bar-sur-Seine and Bar-sur-Aube. This renowned vineyard provides a quarter of Champagne production to date.
It is known for its hilly landscapes, its small villages of character built with Burgundy stone, its clay-limestone basements and its exposures which give Pinots Noirs recognized in the world.
ONE MAN, ONE VOCATION
THE STORY OF CRISTIAN
Born July 2, 1937 to parents from the North of France, his postman father cleared 80 acres to plant his own vineyard.
At the age of 14, Cristian had to provide for the needs of the family, so he accumulated different trades: cheese makers, lumberjack, mason worker, gravedigger, farm worker, then worker winegrower.
he acquires and clears his first acres of vineyard land in the appellation. The following harsh winter freezes his plantations and destroys all his efforts.
he perseveres and increases the surface area of his vineyard by 20 acres for hire, which he pays by working with the owners. Called to perform his military service in September 1957, during the Algerian war, he remained mobilized in Algeria and Morocco until December 31, 1959.
It was as cellar and press manager at the Fontette wine cooperative that he acquired and forged his skills as an enologist.
BEGINNING OF AN OPINIATRIC WAY
BY HIS WIFE'S SIDE
From his marriage in 1963 to Josette, his son Christophe was born in 1964 and his daughter Angélique in 1969.
It is at this moment that begins the obstinate journey of a passionate winegrower accompanied by his wife who build stone by stone their own Champagne house.
Cristian makes his first Coteaux Champenois white for his own consumption.
Installation of the first press, a grape harvest and construction of a cellar in 1974. They will keep 30% of their harvest to make their first champagne.
Elaboration of a new cuvée of Coteaux Champenois Red and Coteaux rosé.
An exceptional vintage which enabled him to consider his first shipments in 1980 to the Netherlands and England.
They become traders to meet the needs of a constantly growing clientele.
A NEW BREATH, A
In 1990, Angélique their daughter and Frédéric her husband both returned to the estate to in turn produce quality Champagnes at the best value for money.
From 1993 to today, the prices accumulate including many gold medals to reward Champagne.
Cristian & Josette leave the reins to Angélique & Frédéric to settle down and open a depot in the south of France where they continue to welcome you.
In ten years, Champagne Senez has continued to increase and be exported to more than twenty countries. Two new vintages in the image of Frédéric, Angelique and their two daughters are born and give a nice touch of modernity.
In 2019, Marion, Cristian and Josette's granddaughter returns to her parents after long studies in the wine industry to make Senez Champagnes prosper again for many years.
Passionate and lover of the land, it is only natural that Senez Champagnes have continued their ecological transition and obtained the High Environmental Value label.
